Voices of Legacy: Speeches from the Artwork Dedication at Gourdin Memorial Park

Several moving and enlightening speeches were given at the dedication to the beautiful artwork installed in the Edward O. Gourdin African American Veterans Park. In this post, we share some of the speeches from our valued supporters.

The first speech by the Brigadier General of Massachusetts celebrates General Gourdin and the countless brave Black veterans who have served our nation. Let it serve as a poignant reminder of our shared history and the resilient spirit of those who have shaped it.

The second and endearingly hopeful speech was delivered by Rachelle V. Brown.

Mrs. Wilma Brown also spoke at the dedication. Below is the heartfelt speech she gave.

Velincia Gourdin, granddaughter of General Edward O. Gourdin, was also among the dedicated speakers at the dedication. In this speech, she celebrates not just the man but her grandfather and the timeless legacy he has left behind.
